A Message from the
Chief Executive Officer
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month this May, I want to take a moment to highlight an issue that lies at the very heart of our work here at ABC Recovery Center: the critical and complex intersection between mental health and substance use.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, an estimated 7.7 million adults in the United States have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. That means nearly 1 in 3 individuals who live with a mental illness also experience a substance use disorder at some point in their lives. These overlapping conditions are often deeply intertwined—sometimes one leads to the other, and sometimes both stem from shared risk factors such as trauma, genetics, or chronic stress.
At ABC Recovery Center, we see this overlap every day. Behind every statistic is a real person: a mother, a son, a colleague, a friend. That's why we continue to expand our services to address not only addiction, but also the emotional, psychological, and social challenges that accompany it. Our integrated care model brings together licensed mental health professionals, addiction counselors, and medical staff to provide compassionate, comprehensive treatment—because recovery is not just about sobriety, it's about healing the whole person.
We also recognize that stigma remains a barrier to seeking help. Far too often, individuals feel shame about their struggles or are dismissed as “just addicts” when they are, in fact, coping with layers of unaddressed trauma or depression. It is our mission to change that narrative—through care, through education, and through advocacy.
To our partners, alumni, and community supporters: thank you for standing with us. Together, we are building a stronger, more compassionate future—one that honors the full humanity of everyone we serve.
With gratitude and hope,
