We, the AmCham Kuwait, mark the 30th of July, World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, by reaffirming our commitment to supporting worker protections, including: The prohibition against the confiscation of workers’ passports; Ensuring workers can transfer employers without illegal punitive or preventative measures; The ban on the buying and trading of fraudulent visas; Ensuring workers have recourse in cases of mistreatment or abuse. As a signatory to the UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, Kuwait has long been a close partner in preventing the scourge of human trafficking among our businesses. We will continue to uphold UN and U.S. standard practices on these issues. We appreciate the Government of Kuwait’s efforts on these issues and encourage our private sector partners to join us in fostering a business environment reflecting international best practices.

Sincerely,
ABCK - AmCham Kuwait
