On May 10, The American Business Council-AmCham Kuwait (ABCK) hosted a webinar titled: Crisis Management for Leaders, Organizations, and Individuals. Over 70 people from Kuwait and the U.S. tuned into the virtual session which focused on the process of managing disruptive and unexpected events and the best practices to adapt to such events. Kuwait will not extend its 24-hour curfew beyond May 30, the interior minister announced at a press conference. Instead Kuwait will replace the complete lockdown with a partial curfew as of May 31, and implement a five-stage plan for public life to return to normal gradually.



How Covid-19 is Honing Kuwait’s Focus on Food Security

On April 17, the GCC adopted a Kuwaiti proposal to create a joint food supply network across the bloc.

Triggered by concerns about Covid-19-related disruptions to trade, the countries agreed to set up special arrangements at border control and Customs posts, in order to facilitate the movement of basic food and medical supplies within the six-member alliance.

IRS announces Form 1040-X electronic filing options coming this summer; major milestone reached for electronic returns.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service announced today that later this summer taxpayers will for the first time be able to file their  Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return , electronically using available tax software products.

Making the 1040-X an electronically filed form has been a goal of the IRS for a number of years. When the electronic filing option becomes available, only tax year 2019 Forms 1040 and 1040-SR returns can be amended electronically.

Economic Impact Payments Updates

WASHINGTON – As Economic Impact Payments continue to be successfully delivered, the Internal Revenue Service today reminds taxpayers that some payments are being sent by prepaid debit card. The debit cards arrive in a plain envelope from "Money Network Cardholder Services."Nearly 4 million people are being sent their Economic Impact Payment by prepaid debit card, instead of paper check. The determination of which taxpayers received a debit card was made by the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, a part of the Treasury Department that works with the IRS to handle distribution of the payments.

Kuwaiti Researchers Develop New COVID-19 PCR Test

A Kuwaiti research team has successfully developed a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test solution for the new coronavirus (COVID-19), Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported. The new test has excellent and accurate diagnostic results and proves another achievement and a milestone by Kuwaitis, Salman Al Sabah, head of Surgical Department at Jaber Al Ahmad Hospital told KUNA.

Kuwait- MoH launches drive-thru coronavirus testing site

The Ministry of Health inaugurated late Saturday a drive-through novel coronavirus testing center at Jazeera Airways Park & Fly facility at the Kuwait International Airport.
The center will help increase the number of tests carried out by the ministry to discover unreported infection cases, Health Minister Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah told reporters during the inauguration ceremony.

Kuwait Plans to Build New industrial Southern Port

The Kuwait Port Authority (KPA) and the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to lay the cornerstone for the study, design, and construction of an industrial port at the south of Kuwait, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

Kuwait Grants Expats Three Month Visa Extension

Expats whose visas will expire by the end of this month will be given a three-month free extension, from June 1 until August 31, Kuwait media reported. The extension will only apply to individuals whose visas will expire by end of May and are still in Kuwait.

State Dept OKs $1.42B in PAC-3 MSE Missile, Repair, Sustainment Requests From Kuwait

The State Department has cleared Kuwait’s request to buy Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancements, program sustainment support and repair services under three foreign military sales agreements worth $1.42B combined. Raytheon Technologies 
will serve as a principal contractors in this deal, which also covers U.S. government and contractor engineering, spare and repair parts and organizational equipment.

KGL Distributes 6000 meals around Kuwait during Ramandan

KGL group of companies harnesses its equipment to undo the front lines in the fight against the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic in the country, as part of its initiatives to support the security system in the Ministry of Interior to serve the nation and citizens. KGL has donated 6000 breakfast meals to people in need, essential workers, and hospitals during the Holy month of Ramadan.

Zain partners Mentor Arabia Foundation to launch #StayZain campaign

Zain Group has teamed up with the Mentor Arabia Foundation, to launch a social media campaign, entitled #StayZain. The regional campaign offers tips for parents, children and youth to maintain good mental and physical health, to reduce anxiety and depression, to motivate them to think positively and to avoid negative behaviour during and after COVID-19 quarantine period.
