International Ministries’ Director of Mission Advancement (missionary recruitment), Jeni Pedzinski, will be in the L.A. area for a few days at the end of January and the beginning of February. You Are Invited! A Focus on Evangelism Sponsored by ABC/USA on February 22nd.

ABCUSA is hosting a two-part United Mission Matters Zoom Event with Dr. Gary Comer, author of “Soul Whisperer: Why the Church Must Change the Way it Views Evangelism.” Dr. Comer, the founder of Soul Whisperer Ministries, brings a fresh perspective to evangelism, challenging traditional approaches and introducing a more dynamic and biblically rooted paradigm. The first session took place on January 25th, and the last session will happen on February 22nd at 9 AM Pacific. Registration for these free sessions is required, and registrants may use the same link for both sessions.

During this session, Dr. Comer will share insights on redefining evangelism in today’s cultural context. Drawing from his extensive experience, including planting two churches and serving as the church planting coach for the Christian Missionary Alliance, Dr. Comer emphasizes a paradigm shift from mere “telling” to a more engaging “drawing” approach.

2024 Regional Ministry

The 2024 Regional Ministry Calendar is below with upcoming events for 2024 that bring our American Baptist family together for fellowship and equipping for effective ministry.  Here are a few highlights:

• Third Thursdays: Pastors and leaders come together to focus on ministry challenges and connect on Zoom. 
• February 24: Hawaii Association Gathering
• March 2: Arizona Association Gathering – Our churches in Arizona are invited to come together at Rainbow Acres. 
• April 5 – ABCOFLASH Clippers Night – Come together with other churches in the L.A. area for an evening of fellowship and basketball when the Clippers play the Utah Jazz
• Juneteenth Event – The ABCOFLASH Black Caucus will be sponsoring an event for everyone in our region to celebrate Juneteenth. The date and location are yet to be determined.
• Latino Ministries will have several training events, couples retreats, prayer vigils, youth events, and more. A more complete list of their events can be found on the Latino page of our website or by contacting Berta Villacorta at the Regional Resource Center
•  ABCOFLASH Annual Meeting – October 3-5 – First Baptist Church of Glendale – The focus will be on the next generation of ministry. We are excited to announce that Dr. Warren H. Stewart, Sr., Pastor of First Institutional Baptist Church of Phoenix, will be our featured speaker.

As you plan the events and ministries of your church, please keep in mind these many opportunities! Additional events will be planned for pastors and ministry leaders throughout the year.
