New Ladder Truck Purchase

The Atlantic Beach Town Council has approved the purchase of a new E One $1.2 million ladder truck from Fire Connections in Rocky Mount, NC.

The E One unit was purchased via a state-approved purchasing cooperative contract and will replace the aging 2003 unit now in use (pictured above). The new truck will help maintain the department's Class 3 fire rating and will serve a dual purpose as a fire engine and 78' ladder truck. It is financed locally by First Bank for over fifteen years.

The truck is scheduled to be delivered in February 2024, at which time the present unit will be sold.

The fireworks are set off from the beachfront and can be seen throughout Town.
Stormwater Project Completion

A major $90,000 gravity-flow storm drainage project for the neighborhoods along E Atlantic, Wilson, and E Boardwalk is now finished. The work was completed by SF Ballou and should bring relief to residents during storms!
DoubleTree East Beach Access

The newly constructed handicap-accessible beach access located on the east side of the DoubleTree by Hilton is almost complete. It will be utilized by residents and visitors and is a much-welcomed addition to the west end of Atlantic Beach. Demolition was completed by our Public Works Department, and Waters Contracting Company installed the structure. (Please note the walkway is public, but parking is for guests of the DoubleTree only).

The beach access was made possible by a state CAMA grant of $94,000.

School Resource Officer Cost-Share

Morehead City has requested that the Towns of Atlantic Beach and Pine Knoll Shores cost-share a grant they have received to place School Resource Officers in Carteret County Schools. Based on the population of our school-age children, Atlantic Beach's cost will be $6,900 per year for two years.

The Atlantic Beach Town Council has approved this request, and we look forward to improving student safety.
