Black Women In Philanthropy (BWIP) 2022 was ABFE's largest convening in the nine-year history of this retreat and the theme Reimaging Radical Rest and Healing resonated well with the 134 attendees who trusted ABFE with this experience.

Meet ABFE's 2022-2023 CLFP Fellows

We are thrilled to announce that we have selected ten foundation executives for the 17th class of our Connecting Leaders Fellowship Program (CLFP).

 

CLFP is a year-long experience designed to sharpen the skills and strengthen the leadership capacity of foundation staff, donors, and trustees who are committed to assisting Black communities through philanthropy.

ABFE member, The Puerto Rico Community Foundation activated the Community Recovery Fund for Puerto Rico (Fondo de Recuperación Comunitaria para Puerto Rico) to support the work of non-profit organizations that were activated to respond to hurricane devastation. Please direct donations or grants to Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico's Community Recovery Fund.

ABFE member, The Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation investing

 $10 million to support organizing and advocacy in the American South!

The Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation, an ABFE member, announced it will invest an additional $10 million from the Ford Foundation to support organizing and advocacy in the American South.

 

“Both foundations are eager to identify and fund advocacy work in the South with multiyear, general operating support. Organizations who see themselves in MRBF’s program description are welcome to submit an organizational summary to determine whether they are a good fit for this funding.”

ABFE’s MEMBERSHIP MONDAYSMember Spotlight Series

Attendees enjoyed our last Membership Monday's Spotlight Series on September 19th with spotlight guests Brian Stanley and Gamal Willis from Avenues for Justice. They discussed the organization’s crime prevention programs in low-income communities particularly in the areas of advocacy, social justice, and education. Thank you to all who attended!

Impact Grants Chicago's 2022-2023 Grant Cycle 

Impact Grants Chicago has recently announced the opening of their 2022/23 grant cycle.

They are now accepting Letters of Inquiry from Chicago nonprofits for one of their $100,000 Impact Grants.

 

They will be accepting Letters of Inquiry through October 28th. Grants will be awarded May 31st, 2023. Please share this with others in the nonprofit community who might be interested in this grant.

 

Founded in 2017, Impact Grants Chicago connects, engages, and inspires women to improve our community by collectively funding $100,000 grants to Chicago nonprofits that are dedicated to addressing the challenges facing the city.

In 2020, ABFE committed to raising money to rebuild and strengthen Black-led infrastructure for systemic social change.


We will continue to lead with the comprehensive campaign, with a more critical focus on seeding funder collaborative in service of Black communities and investing in ABFE’s business infrastructure including building our reserve fund. 


We invite you to engage with the comprehensive campaign by becoming an ABFE member, giving a lead gift, or even giving a personal donation to ABFE utilizing your employee match.

Avenues for Justice is hosting their Second Chance Experience on Thursday, October 20th at 7:00pm at Phillips Gallery and Auction House.



This year's event will honor Jason Flom, philanthropist, music executive, and justice reform advocate with the Andrew Glover Justice Award in New York City this October.


Event attendees will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, live entertainment, and the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive evening of art at the Phillips Auction House - all while raising awareness and support for Avenues for Justice's critical mission.
