Implantology/Implant Dentistry, we would like to remind you that you are eligible to challenge the Part I Written Examination. You have until to complete Part I and Part II.

If you are interested, fill out pages 2, 3, 6 and 8 of the 2025 application and submit no later than December 1, 2024. No application fee is due. Once your application is received and approved, a confirmation email will be sent with exam fee payment options. See below for fees and policies.

The examination will be administered through Pearson VUE on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. You will be required to register 6-8 weeks prior to the exam directly through Pearson VUE. Those instructions will be sent to approved candidates. We highly recommend you book your exam soon as registration opens. This will increase your chances of confirming your location of choice.

New For 2025!

• You must take and pass Part I before applying for Part II.
• New application deadline is now December 1, the year before the examination will be taken.
• Oral Exam case submissions are due January 15.
• Your Part II/Oral Exam candidate cases will be requested after your application has been approved.   
• There is now one application for both exams and for any candidate who needs to retake an exam. You select which ABOI/ID board certification examination/s you are applying for Part I or Part II.
• Submit your completed application with supporting documents to applications@aboi.org. Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing. Once approved, you will receive exam details and exam fee payment options. 

Exam Fees

• Part I Written Examination Fee $700.00 (non-transferable)
• Re-Examination for Part I Written Exam Fee $700.00
• Cancellation Fee $400.00, if canceled less than 30 days of the scheduled exam.
• Exam Fees are non-transferable, see below for refund policy.

Refund Policy for Exam Fees

• To receive a full refund, you must contact ABOI/ID 30 days or more prior to the scheduled examination date.
• If cancelled less than 30 days of the exam, a $400.00 cancellation fee will be assessed.
• No refund will be issued if cancelled within 7 days or if a candidate is a no show.

Exam Policies

• NEW for 2025- Approved candidates are now required to first take and pass Part I-Written Exam before proceeding on to Part II-Oral Exam. Both exams cannot be taken in the same year.
• Both Part’s I & II must be successfully completed within four years of original application.
• Part II must be successfully completed within four years of passing Part I.
• If you need to re-take either exam, the full amount of the exam fee will be charged.
• Examination dates vary from year to year and will be posted on the ABOI website.
