Evaluation and Management by Nichol Salvo, DPM

When a patient presents in any medical setting for initial evaluation, it is easy to focus on your area of specialty. That being said, having "tunnel vision" may cause you as the clinician to falter. Timelines, timelines, timelines!

Once you decide the kind of practice you want to be a part of, and the location where you want to practice, the true planning begins. Create a timeline by speaking with residents who recently graduated. Find out when you can start applying for licensure, DEA certificates, hospital privileges, and get started! This process takes months and if it is only being started when you graduate it will prolong the time before you can start to practice.

A Note from the Editor - Dr. Nicole DeLauro

August always brings excitement and anxiety as the resident year commences. What will the year be like? How will you excel? What new opportunities are on the horizon? These questions will naturally answer themselves over the next few months. At ABPM, we look for new ways to engage young physicians and help enrich your educational experience. We are happy to announce updates to our App in August, and our "Pathology Specific Biomechanical Exams" are ready to be downloaded and incorporated into your EHRs. Our "Clinical Presentation Skills" feature this newsletter reminds you to examine your patients in entirety and not solely rely on the chief complaint. Familiarize yourself with our Board, and see who is working behind the scenes to make ABPM work for you. Lastly feel free to visit ABPM staff during any of our upcoming events!
