Calendar: 2024-2025 School Calendar

The ABRPTSO Welcomes You to the 2024-2025 Academic Year!

ABRPTSO, the combined PTSO for the high school and RJ Grey, supports critical academic needs, is an active voice on decisions that impact your children’s quality of education, and builds a strong, more inclusive school community. We invite you to contribute to the PTSO because your contribution makes it possible to provide important programs and resources. If you are not familiar with the ABRPTSO's work, we do a lot!

There is no wrong or right way to be involved! The ABRPTSO can do a lot with your $50 donation. Or, if you have 2 hours a month, we can also desperately use your time! Board and Volunteer positions are currently available for the 2024-2025 school year

so contact chatter@abrptso.org and we can connect you with a committee that needs your help! We are working on our social media presence, so stay tuned for more information about that (or volunteer and show us your social media game!).

If you are interested in volunteering please join us at our upcoming virtual meeting, Wednesday, September 11th @ 7 pm.

Every member of the school community - parents, caregivers, teachers, students, etc. - are always invited. It’s a whole new school year and we are ready for all the possibilities ahead of us!

ABRHS Student Handbook

The Student Handbook contains all policies, regulations, and practices that govern our school community and create an inclusive and respectful environment at ABRHS. All students must review and agree to the content in the Student Handbook.

Students and families are required to log into the PowerSchool Public Portal to confirm they have read and understood our handbook.

Please reference the Student Handbook (p. 47-53) for detailed information about excused and unexcused absences.

New Attendance Procedures for 2024-2025

Parents and caretakers will want to be familiar with the attendance policy and procedures for excusing student absences, latenesses, and early dismissals. You can learn more here: Quick Guide for Parent/Caretakers Reporting Attendance

School Picture Information

School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11, in the auditorium at the high school. Students will be called down in their English classes on one day OR the other, and your student’s English teacher will notify them in advance which day will be theirs. For any students who miss the September dates or would like a new picture, retakes will take place on Wednesday, October 23. Families will receive order information from Mark Lawrence Photography; if you have any questions about ordering, please call Mark Lawrence at 603-882-0116. General questions can be directed to Melissa Dempsey, mdempsey@abschools.org.

COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY VISITS TO ABRHS

Beginning Tuesday, September 17th, and run through mid-November. See the Fall 2024 College/University Visits Calendar for who is visiting. Please note that the visit date/time may change as schools sometimes need to cancel and reschedule. These visits are for Seniors (class of 2025). Juniors may attend only if the visit is during their free period. Seniors planning to attend a college or university visit should indicate in their SCOIR account a day prior to the visit that they will be attending and email the class teacher that they will be missing class due to their planning to attend XYZ college/university visit. On the day of the college university visit, students should come to the Counseling Center and sign an attendance sheet within the first 10 minutes to be marked as excused. Any questions regarding the college/university visits should be directed to Mrs. Holden-Webber at pholdenwebber@abschools.org

Understanding the College Application Process for Senior Parents and Caregivers

The Counseling Department Fall College night for parents and caregivers of seniors is September 19th at 6:00 pm in the ABRHS Auditorium. A presentation on the pros and cons of early decision and early action will be directed at seniors who are planning on applying early to college and to those who are considering this option. In addition, counselors will review the procedures for students to follow in submitting applications and requesting transcripts, school reports, and teacher recommendations. This is an opportunity for parents to review the steps and have questions answered.

Project Graduation: Class of 2025, Let's go!

Aaaaaand, we're back! After a fantastic all-nightsubstance-free celebration for the entire Class of 2024, we're ready to rock for the Class of 2025. In times past there was a lot of drinking and driving, but for more than 30 years the Acton-Boxborough community has come together to keep kids safe on graduation night. And although June is a long way off, we start planning NOW. We are seeking key volunteers to make this rite of passage a reality. This is a rare way to stay involved now that your kids are out of elementary school. Please click through to see the roles that match your interests: EntertainmentDecorationsCommunications, or Head Honcho. Then simply sign up! Believe it or not, your time could save lives.
