Happy Holidays from ABWM!

The ABWM Board of Directors, ABWM Foundation Board of Trustees, and staff would like to wish all of our Associates and Diplomates a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year! The ABWM team had a very productive meeting in Fort Lauderdale last month, where we discussed upcoming plans and initiatives for 2020. As always, we are focused on constantly improving the application, testing and ongoing delegate experience, and upholding the value of our certifications for existing Associates & Diplomates. Please note that the ABWM offices will be closed from December 24th to January 1st. During this time, feel free to email us on [email protected] and a team member will get back to you as soon as possible.

Congratulations to everyone who was recently certified! The ABWM would like to recognize all newly certified Associates and Diplomates who received their CWCA®, CWS®, or CWSP® credentials from September 1st through November 30th, 2019. See a list of those recently certified.

In May 2019, The American Board of Wound Management reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest possible standards in wound care certification: " ABWM is the only multidisciplinary wound care certification accredited by the  National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) , and while others have sought to position their organizations and certifications as preeminent, none have duplicated the standard of excellence offered by ABWM." Diplomate Spotlight: Rafael Rafols, MD, CWSP

Dr. Rafols from Edinburg, Texas is board certified in Family Medicine and passed his CWSP ® exam in 2012. He is a former APWCA board member and has served on the Board of Directors of the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine (ACHM) since 2017. Dr. Rafols has been practicing wound care full time since 2012. He enjoys providing wound care in all settings, from nursing homes to acute care, and is always looking for a challenge! In 2018, he opened the first non-hospital based wound care center in South Texas: Wound Management at Mission . His practice is outcome focused, follows the most up-to-date evidence, and is driven by innovation.   Thanks for sharing Dr. Rafols! The ABWM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit foundation. It supports the work of the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM) by providing flash cards , study guides and online practice exams to help with preparation for the CWCA ® , CWS ® and CWSP ® exams. The ABWM Foundation also provides helpful resources and information regarding CEUs, wound certification prep courses, and a bi-monthly newsletter. ABWM Foundation Scholarship In an effort to further increase accessibility to certification, the ABWM Foundation offers scholarships to cover the cost of a candidate’s initial certification examination fee for exams offered by the American Board of Wound Management (CWS®, CWSP®. CWCA®). Up to 10 certification exam scholarships will be offered annually, and applications will be reviewed by the ABWM Foundation Board of Trustees. Eligibility: Scholarships are open to candidates meeting the eligibility criteria for certification set forth by the American Board of Wound Management. Scholarships are only available to first-time candidates. Scholarships will not be available for retesting, rescheduling, or re-certifying candidates. A copy of the candidate’s most recent tax return will be required with application.
