The Bureau of Prisons held its first ever Wound Care Symposium at the National Corrections Academy in Aurora, Colorado this year. It was attended by a group of 25 Bureau physicians, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, Registered Nurses, and Licensed Practical Nurses.

ABWM Foundation has developed educational videos for individuals studying for upcoming exams or fulfilling requirements for annual certification renewal. Each module runs about 45 minutes and concludes with a series of multiple-choice questions that need to be completed for continuing education credit to be given. Each module counts for 1 hour of continuing education.
Video 1: Venous Ulcers: Etiology and Management
This educational module is designed for all wound care practitioners and provides an overview of the presently accepted cause of venous ulceration, with a brief historical overview of past theories. The principles of proper venous ulcer management are then discussed including the role of compression in healing and lifetime maintenance of the condition.
The American Board of Wound Management is the original multidisciplinary certification in wound care and is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
