A Message From ABWM President Gayle Lindsey

|
Fellow Diplomates,
As summer winds down and fall is right around the corner, I wanted to send an update on the initiatives your Board of Directors and our ABWM management company, Association Management Strategies, (AMS) continue to focus upon:
- Acting on feedback from our Diplomates sitting for their recertification exams as well as from those candidates sitting for their exam for the first time, we continue to implement actions to improve the test-taking experience and make it a smooth transaction for all involved. AMS sends a representative to all mobile testing sites to monitor the quality of mobile exam administration as well as to support all candidates in their experience. We are having ongoing conversations with our current testing partner to continue to streamline the process and correct any existing opportunities for improvement.
- Increase public awareness of the ABWM and the importance of wound certification with patients, providers, insurance companies, and the wound management industry.
- Development of a new ABWM logo to enhance our marketing strategies and brand recognition.
- On The Marc Media was also present with us at the spring SAWC in San Antonio to film insightful testimonials from our Diplomats and Board members. These videos are available for viewing on all of our social media platforms. Be sure to follow ABWM on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube to stay in the know!
- In addition, the ABWM has been working to increase its online social media presence in order to promote our organization and improve communication and engagement with current and potential Diplomats via interactive and informative content. ABWM’s Director of Marketing, Caoimhe Kenny, has implemented some engaging social media content, including features such as Diplomate Spotlight, FAQ of the Week, Wound Word Wednesday, and Congratulations! – A post highlighting our newly certified Diplomats.
- The Ambassador Program continues to grow and is a vital aspect of our grassroots out reach. If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador for the ABWM, please reach out to info@abwmcertified.org.
- Additionally, an exciting opportunity is presenting itself for anyone interested in serving as a trustee on the ABWM Foundation! If you feel passionately about wound education and supporting our Diplomates and potential Diplomates in their learning process, please reach out to Sibel at info@abwmfoundation.org. You might decide submitting an application to be considered for a trustee seat is right up your alley!
In closing, it is important to remember even with all of these ongoing initiatives, the core mission of this organization must remain our guiding principle:
The American Board of Wound Management is dedicated to the multi-disciplinary team approach in promoting the science of prevention, care, and treatment of acute and chronic wounds. The primary function is to establish and monitor a national certification process, recognize competency, promote education and research, and elevate the standard of care across the continuum of wound management.
We must always do the right thing, without shortcuts. As Diplomats, we should pride ourselves on staying true to this mission and continuing to elevate the standard of wound management for all of our patients as well as for our industry!
Wishing you all a happy fall season!
Warm regards,
Gayle Lindsey,
PT, MHSM, MBA, CWS
