Recreational Quota Entity Passes by an 8-3 Vote

The North Pacific Fishery Management Council approved the RQE just after 5pm today, with an 8-3 vote. They rewarded the charter fishing industry for its constructive proposal, public testimony and hard work on developing a plan for compensated re-allocation of halibut in Alaska and gave us a path to move forward to rebuild the allocation we've lost since the adoption of the Halibut Catch Sharing Plan, and... now the hard work begins. Stay tuned, and thank Richard Yamada and Andy Mezirow when you see them!
