The Air Conditioning Association of New England (ACA/NE) will host an HVAC/R Career Day at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlborough, Massachusetts on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. The Career Day will run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The Career Day will give vocational and private career school students, career services staff, principals, guidance counselors and teachers the opportunity to explore the full spectrum of career opportunities within the HVAC/R industry.

ACA/NE’s goal is to increase awareness that the industry provides challenging and rewarding careers that offer great pay and benefits.

This event is an opportunity for the industry to demonstrate that there is a growing demand for new HVAC/R employees, and that students can enter the workforce without the debt they would incur after attending a four-year college.

Offering On-Demand Part Deliveries to Improve Efficiency and Profitability
Introducing PartRunner, a Boston-based startup that offers on-demand fleet services to move parts and materials within the trades industries, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The new service is revolutionizing the way materials are being transported in a more productive and efficient manner, which in turn will save time and money. PartRunner caters their services to contractors and supply houses in the HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical & Construction industries. The on-demand service is able to handle all types of deliveries, such as moving materials from a supply house directly to a job site, to multiple drop-offs, and assisting internal logistics for enterprises.

According to market research conducted in the field, it takes an average of two hours to get parts from one place to another, and contractors are spending anywhere between $65 to $140 on technician’s salaries and vehicle expenses. Meanwhile PartRunner has an average cost of $35 and turnaround time of 75 minutes. The service allows contractors to waste less time getting parts and more time completing jobs, increasing the number of billable hours to their customer.

Cyber Security
Data breaches at major corporations may capture the big headlines, but small and mid-sized businesses also face significant financial, operational, and reputational risks from cyberattacks. Unfortunately, many business owners believe a data breach won’t happen to them, either because they think they have adequate protection in place or because they feel the information isn’t worth stealing. In reality, hackers often see these businesses as prime targets. Without the proper safeguards in place, your business could suffer a data breach that exposes sensitive information, disrupts operations and opens the door to an expensive lawsuit.
