Supporting Canada’s farmers, food businesses, and food supply

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced measures within agriculture programs and an investment of more than $252 million to support farmers, food businesses, and food processors who provide essential services to Canadians every day by ensuring a safe and reliable food supply. He also announced that the government intends to propose an additional $200 million in borrowing capacity for the sector.

Canadian Chamber says agri-sector funding falls short and calls on government to provide more meaningful assistance

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO, Hon. Perrin Beatty, OC, OC, issued a statement regarding new support for the agriculture and agri-food sector announced today.

Agriculture Industry Advisory Committee 

The Alberta government has established an industry advisory committee that will meet regularly and provide Agriculture and Forestry with strategic advice and recommendations on emerging issues and priorities.

Alberta relaunch

As Alberta's economic relaunch gets underway, chambers will likely hear from members requesting information and guidance. Because chambers are not in the position to provide health and safety advice, here are key websites where you can refer your members:

Alberta utility deferrals

Government will introduce legislation that will allow Albertans and businesses to defer electricity and natural gas utility payments. Residential, farm, and small commercial customers can defer bill payments for electricity and natural gas until June 18.
