Canadian Chamber AGM – Proxies and policy book

Each year the ACC collects proxy forms from community chambers that are not planning to attend the CCC Annual Conference and policy debate. This year, the CCC conference is being held virtually and at no cost to attend.

If you are not going to be joining the CCC conference, please complete the proxy form so that you can be represented by Alberta chambers able to attend.

The Canadian Chamber is scheduled to circulate its proposed policy book tomorrow, September 25.

Alberta’s government is spending dollars from the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) fund on a series of programs that will get Albertans back to work and reduce emissions. The latest TIER investment will support 3,400 jobs on its own and up to 8,700 jobs when investments from industry and other funding sources are included.

Government of Canada introduces legislation to support Canadians through Recovery Benefits and extend access to funds for emergency measures

Today, the Government of Canada announced the introduction of Bill C-2 to create three new temporary recovery benefits to support Canadians who are unable to work for reasons related to COVID-19.
  • A Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB) of $500 per week for up to 26 weeks, to workers who are self-employed or are not eligible for EI and who still require income support.
  • A Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB) of $500 per week for up to two weeks, for workers who are sick or must self-isolate for reasons related to COVID-19.
  • A Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB) of $500 per week for up to 26 weeks per household, for eligible Canadians unable to work because they must care for a child under the age of 12 or family member because schools, day-cares or care facilities are closed due to COVID-19 or because the child or family member is sick and/or required to quarantine.
