Canada United relief fund: Applications now open!

Grant applications for the Canada United Small Business Relief Fund are now open! Small business members have the opportunity to apply for the grant of up to $5,000 for unexpected spending on measures related to COVID-19. Infrastructure builds jobs in northern Alberta

As part of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the Government of Canada, Alberta government, municipalities and community organizations will spend $178.2 million to complete 18 infrastructure projects in northern Alberta.

Federal education funding for COVID-19

Alberta’s government will be distributing $262 million in federal funding to school authorities for COVID-19 related expenses. The majority of the funding will be distributed to school authorities based on a per-student model, and it must be used to support additional COVID-19 related costs.

Government announces greater flexibility and extension of Canada Emergency Business Account

The Government of Canada announced that the application deadline for the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) is extended from August 31 to October 31, 2020. The government is working closely with financial institutions to make the CEBA program available to those with qualifying payroll or non-deferrable expenses that have so far been unable to apply due to not operating from a business banking account.

Government of Canada strengthens federal labour standards for work-integrated learning

The Government of Canada announced the coming into force of changes to federal labour standards. The changes strengthen protections and regulations for internships in federally regulated workplaces and build on other efforts to protect young workers, including anti-harassment and violence legislation.

Regional Relief and Recovery Fund support for Western Canadian businesses tops $154 million

More than 2,400 businesses in Western Canada have received over $154 million in RRRF funding, protecting almost 11,000 jobs in communities across the West.
