Say "Happy Birthday, ACC" on 10/1!

The ACC team is eagerly preparing for our official 60th Anniversary on October 1st, 2023. As part of our celebrations, we want to hear from you! On 10/1, we are asking ACC alumni to share a video of themselves/their work on social media and say, ‘Happy Birthday, ACC!’

As a special thank you, we will send an ACC tote bag to all those who participate in this campaign by following the instructions below!

How to participate:

  1. On 10/1, post a short video on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn saying ‘Happy Birthday, ACC’
  2. With your post, tag our ACC account on the social channel of your choosing (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) and use our campaign hashtag: #60YearsOfACC
  3. Each video can be as short as a few seconds saying "Happy Birthday, ACC" or as long as 1 minute with more detail about how your ACC experience(s) impacted you
  4. All videos will be reposted on ACC’s social pages

These videos will virtually bring together the global ACC family virtually for our 60th, so we hope you will join us in making this anniversary a particularly special one! For questions, email [email protected]. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Fellow Activities

On Monday, September 25 at 7pm Yao Qingmei (ACC Current Fellow) will present a work-in-process for Movement Research, a laboratory for the investigation of dance and movement-based forms in New York City. Yao's art is deeply rooted in a critical reflection into the formulation of political and social questions, exploring how symbolic gestures gain or lose power through forms of appropriation and displacement.

Movement Research will present Yao’s work-in-progress at the historic Judson Memorial Church.

From Our Friends

The Play Company (PlayCo) presents 9 Kinds of Silence. Written and directed by Abhishek Majumdar, the play takes place in a military tent on the shore of a country that is winding down a multi-year war as a Mother processes returning soldiers for the homeland and a Son returns from combat. Over the course of one night, they must navigate a state-mediated language, communicating to each other what they've witnessed through the years as the war has raged on and a dictator has come to power. 9 Kinds of Silence considers sound and silence as means of control, subjugation, and protest.

Watch the world premiere of Majumdar's dramatic experiment that invites audiences to focus on what is heard, thought, and felt in silence from September 6–October 8, 2023. Learn more and buy tickets HERE
