Fellow ACC Michigan members:
I hope everyone enjoyed their Summer and Fall is off to a great start for you. I can’t believe this is already my last President’s message. It was an honor to serve the ACC Michigan Chapter as President this past term, and I sincerely enjoyed connecting with members at our events.
In my first message last fall, I mentioned part of our strategic plan is to bring more career development programming to our members. This past term we partnered with Crain’s Detroit to bring back the Corporate Counsel Summit that included a panel of general counsel from some of Michigan’s largest employers discussing various topics including leadership and career growth. In addition, LegalEase hosted an event about leveraging technology to help drive performance, and Bush Seyferth hosted a panel on the benefits of mentorship and developing young attorneys. Our Programming Committee is planning for more events like these for next year that we are excited to share with you soon.
I also want to thank everyone who attended our 25th annual golf outing at Plum Hollow, including all of our sponsors. This event helps fund our scholarship program for law students. I had some FOMO as this was the first golf outing I missed since becoming an ACC member back in 2013 but I had a good excuse—my wife and I welcomed a baby girl into the world, and she decided to arrive a few weeks early. I hope those that attended had fun!
Finally, I want to welcome Pervin Taleyarkhan as the next President of ACC Michigan. Pervin is Global Legal Counsel, Transactions, Privacy, and Information Systems at Whirlpool, and she has served on the ACC Michigan Board with me for a number of years and was Vice President this past term. The Chapter is in great hands with Pervin, and I know she is focused on engaging our west Michigan members more next year. Please join me in welcoming Pervin into her new role.
As always, if you have any feedback on the programming you would like to see in the future or are interested in getting more involved with ACC Michigan, feel free to reach out to me directly or to michigan@accglobal.com.

Save the Date for the 2022 National Celebration of Pro Bono, October 23-29, 2022 |
Why Celebrate Pro Bono?
Pro bono work is a professional responsibility and an individual ethical commitment of each lawyer. The ABA committee launched the National Celebration of Pro Bono in 2009 because of the increasing need for pro bono services during harsh economic times and the unprecedented response of attorneys to meet this demand. Every October since 2009, legal organizations across America participate in the National Celebration of Pro Bono to draw attention to the need for pro bono participation and to thank those who give their time year-round.
