Alberta leads as proponent for West Coast pipeline


Alberta with support of major pipeline companies, is advancing plans for a new oil pipeline to B.C.’s northwest coast, to expand access to global markets and strengthen Canada’s energy competitiveness. The province has committed $14M for early planning and is partnering with Indigenous communities. A formal project application is expected in spring 2026.

Trevor Tombe: The budget warning that Canada cannot ignore


In his recent commentary, Dr. Trevor Tombe, Professor of Economics at the University of Calgary, noted that Canada’s Parliamentary Budget Officer called federal finances "unsustainable", with projected deficits for 2025–2028 nearly doubling earlier estimates and debt expected to outpace economic growth. Rising interest costs and expanded program spending underscore the need for a clear, long-term fiscal framework to maintain stability and prepare for future economic challenges.
