As the state begins to open up, have you thought about getting more involved in ACC Tennessee, and you aren't sure where to start?? Two great ways to do that are joining a committee or applying for a position on the Board of Directors. Often, joining a committee is an excellent method to ease your way into becoming more active in ACC Tennessee, allowing you to learn more about how the Chapter operates and get to know the most active Chapter members.

Chambliss Adds Audit Counsel Practice Area in Response to COVID-19
Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel has added an audit counsel practice area that assists clients with strategy and preparation for future audits relating to the coronavirus aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, Paycheck Protection Program loans, Department of Health and Human Services provider relief funds and other legislative developments and financial opportunities that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic. Shareholder Cathy Dorvil will lead the practice area, which includes COVID-19 Task Force Co-Chairs Jim Catanzaro and Justin Furrow, the Hamilton County Herald reports. In announcing the move, Chambliss says it expects the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to conduct future audits. The audit counsel team will provide support for compliance and government investigations, regulatory and administrative proceedings and more.
Merchant & Gould Announces Scholarship for Diverse,
IP Students at UT Law
National intellectual property (IP) law firm Merchant & Gould has announced it will sponsor a yearly $5,000 scholarship for University of Tennessee College of Law students who are from diverse backgrounds and are interested in practicing IP law. Additionally, the firm wants to create opportunities and experiences for the next generation of Tennessee IP attorneys. UT Law was one of nine schools chosen to receive scholarships. Selection of scholarship recipients will be handled by a review committee at the school. For scholarship applications, school-specific criteria, number of students sharing the merit aid, deadlines, or any other questions, contact the Office of Admissions at the University of Tennessee College of Law at lawadmit@utk.edu or 865-974-4131.
Bradley Awards 2021 Diversity Scholarships,
1 Recipient Headed to Tennessee
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP recently announced the recipients of its 2021 Diversity Scholarships. Gillian Mak, a law student at The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., will clerk in the firm’s Nashville office this summer. The scholarship program is part of the firm’s diversity committee, which includes promoting law students who reflect the diversity of the legal marketplace and are underrepresented in the profession. Mak is a first-year law student and member of the Student Health Law Association and the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association.
Husch Blackwell’s Alston Named ABA Fellow
TBA member and Husch Blackwell managing partner Michael Alston has been named an American Bar Foundation fellow, the Hamilton County Herald reports. ABF fellows are part of a global honorary society made up of attorneys, judges, law faculty and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and to the welfare of their communities. Membership in the fellows is limited to 1% of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction. Alston handles complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts at Husch Blackwell. He is a certified mediator and a member of the TBA’s Corporate Counsel Section.
