How to Improve the Efficiency, Capacity, Reliability and Resilience
of the Electric Power Grid with ACCC® Conductor
CTC Global
ACCC® Conductor News - August 2020
100,000+ Kilometers of ACCC® Conductor Installed at over 800 Projects in 52 countries
Quick Update: There are currently 29 active ACCC®
Conductor installations underway and start dates for 60 additional ACCC Conductor installations scheduled. Why? Because the ACCC Conductor offers the ability to improve the efficiency, capacity, reliability and resilience of the electric power grid, worldwide.
Did You Know: The ACCC® Conductor Core is the only carbon fiber conductor core in the world that meets the internationally recognized ASTM B-987 Standard, "Standard Specification for Carbon Fiber Thermoset Polymer Matrix Composite Core (CFC) for use in Overhead Electrical Conductors."

ASTM B-987 / B-987M - 20 (recently updated) can be found on ASTM's website at https://www.astm.org/Standards/B987.htm
The ACCC® Conductor is Saving Water

Did you know that 40 percent of all clean water consumed in the United States is used to produce electricity and that fossil fuel thermal and nuclear power plants consume between 38 and 227 cubic meters (10,000 to 60,000 gallons) of clean filtered water for every megawatt hour of electricity it produces?

Consider this:

The ACCC® Conductor has been deployed to more than 800 projects in 52 countries representing more than 100,000 kilometers of ACCC Conductor in service today. The line loss reductions are effectively saving over 300 Megawatts of Generation Capacity, which is also saving water. If you consider that the annual output of this plant would exceed 2.6 million megawatt hours of electricity, you’d realize that operating this plant would require between 98.8 to 590.2 million cubic meters of clean filtered water per year. The use of ACCC Conductor is effectively saving enough water to fill Lake Havasu, a primary source of drinking water for Southern California.

Milestone ACCC® Project Completed in Montenegro

With installation support from Electro Team Budva, Montenegro, CEDISCrnogorski Elektrodistributivni Sistem d.o.o. Podgorica, completed their first ACCC® Conductor installation in Montenegro. Collaborating closely with CTC Global (USA), local distributor Elektro Merkur (Rijeka, Croatia) and ACCC Conductor manufacturer Lamifil (Belgium) a new single layer conductor design was installed over Lake Skadar near the small city of Vranjina, Montenegro.

The 1.3 km 35 kV reconductor project was completed on existing structures without modifications. The primary span was 940 meters. Dead-ends and splices were provided by PLP Belos (Poland) and AGS suspension clamps and other fittings were provided by Proizvodnja OSO (Croatia). CTC Global’s master installer, Christopher Morrison was on site to provide support. Zeck reel stands, tensioners, pullers, socks and sheave wheels were used along with a Klauke compression press.

12 aircraft warning markers and 12 warning lights were also installed on the new conductor. Lake Skadar lies on the border of Albania and Montenegro, and is the largest lake in Southern Europe.
CTC Global Performs Virtual Factory Acceptance Testing

Under normal circumstances its not uncommon for CTC Global to host a number of international utilities at its Campus in Southern California every week to discuss project engineering, witness testing, or participate in training sessions, among many other things.

Earlier this month, CTC Global performed a series of factory acceptance tests for customers using video and web technologies. While its much more fun to do these tests in person, due to current travel restrictions, CTC Global’s team performed dozens of tests remotely.

The CTC team set up several cameras and filmed the tests while customers watched and engaged using TEAMS MEETING format. While these combined efforts got the job done, we certainly look forward to having our customers back in Irvine in the near future.

CTC Global's Conductor Comparison Program CCP™ Software is Available Online

CTC Global is pleased to announce that our highly regarded Conductor Comparison Program (CCP™) software is now available online. The new web-based version has all the features found in the Excel version, which has been replaced and will no longer be supported. The new version is designed to make it easier to use, and it also has some new features. Having CCP online will make it easier to keep it up-to-date with new wire files and other data, and to add improvements as they are made. Users will always know they have the current version every time they log in. CCP is also compatible with tablets.

Registration to use CCP requires only a valid email address and password. Users may also use CCP as a guest however, saving and export features are only available to registered users.

Thank you for using our CCP. We welcome your feedback. For technical support, please contact [email protected]
