CTC Global Applauds Montana’s Legislative Leadership in Grid Modernization

CTC Global applauds the State of Montana for taking decisive action to modernize its electric transmission grid through the passage of Senate Bill 301 (2025) and House Bill 729 (2023). Together, these forward-looking laws establish a strong regulatory and financial foundation for deploying advanced transmission technologies across the state. SB 301 streamlines the approval process for transmission upgrades over 69 kV and specifically encourages the use of Advanced Conductors, high-voltage systems, and grid-enhancing technologies. It empowers the Montana Public Service Commission to evaluate project proposals within a defined 300-day window - bringing much-needed speed and certainty to transmission development.

House Bill 729 supports this effort by enabling utilities to recover costs for advanced conductor projects that demonstrate clear efficiency and performance benefits. This includes technologies like CTC Global’s ACCC® Conductor, which can double the capacity of existing lines without requiring major structural changes. With improved efficiency, reduced thermal sag, and enhanced wildfire resilience, ACCC® Conductors directly support Montana’s goals of increasing grid reliability and reducing long-term operational costs. CTC Global is proud to have contributed to past projects in Montana and looks forward to supporting the state’s continued leadership in building a smarter, more resilient energy future.
