How to Improve the Efficiency, Capacity, Reliability and Resilience
of the Electric Power Grid with ACCC ® Conductor

ACCC ® Conductor News - June 2020
100,000 + Kilometers of ACCC ® Conductor Installed at over 800 Projects in 52 countries
Quick Update: There are currently  30 active ACCC Conductor installations underway and start dates for  25  additional ACCC Conductor installations scheduled. Why? Because the ACCC Conductor offers the ability to improve the efficiency, capacity, reliability and resilience of the electric power grid, worldwide.
FERC Incentive Policy Update

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), on March 19 th , proposed to revise its electric transmission incentive policy to stimulate the development of transmission infrastructure needed to support the nation’s evolving generation resource mix, technological innovation and shifts in load patterns. The Proposed Rulemaking shifts the focus in granting transmission incentives from an approach based on the risks and challenges faced by a project to an approach based on the benefits to consumers.
Among the proposed reforms, one was particularly important to CTC Global's Utility customers in the US: Offer a 100-basis-point incentive for transmission technologies that enhance reliability, efficiency and capacity as well as improve the operation of new or existing transmission facilities. While this description for transmission technologies that would be eligible for the incentive aligns very closely for our own description of what the ACCC Conductor provides, all conductors along with several other traditional transmission technology categories were “generally” excluded. Needless to say, our comments to FERC highlight the error of overly restricting the range of technologies eligible for the incentive and offer two specific recommendations:

The Commission should include high-performance transmission conductors that enhance reliability, efficiency, capacity, and improve the operation of new or existing transmission facilities as “eligible transmission technologies” for purposes of Incentives for Transmission Technology treatment; and, t he Commission should advise transmission planners that when evaluating a transmission project’s benefit-cost ratio for incentive qualifications they should consider additional benefits beyond capacity and reliability, notably:
improvements in transmission system efficiency that result in reduced transmission line losses, reduced air and water emissions from reduced generation requirements, and reduced generation capacity required to reliably serve electric load.

If FERC agrees that a broader view of eligible transmission technologies for this special advanced technology incentive is warranted, including eligibility for projects using ACCC Conductor, then more customers may get the benefit of transmission projects using ACCC Conductor that increase reliability, capacity, and efficiency resulting in cleaner air and water, and lower electricity costs.

CTC Global filed its comments to the FERC Transmission Incentive Rulemaking (FERC RM20-10) on June 29 th . We expect to hear back from FERC in a proposed Rule sometime late Q3 or Q4 of this year.
State Grid Completes New 500 kV Project in Hebei Province, China using ACCC ® Conductor

CTC Global is proud to report that its JV partner, Jiangsu NARI CTC Composite Material Co, Ltd, in China supplied 500 km of ACCC Conductor for the new 1,000 kilometer Chengde-Yangle double circuit (4 bundle) 500 kV transmission line in the Hebei province of China. Spans between the new lattice structures ranged from 350 to 450 meters as the line traversed a mountain range which crossed over the Great Wall.
About Jiangsu NARI CTC Composite Material Co, Ltd:

Established in 2014 to help meet China’s increasing electricity needs with state-of-the-art ACCC ® Conductor, CTC Global partnered with the NARI Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China, the world’s largest electric utility company. Jiangsu NARI CTC Composite Material Co, Ltd, begin commercial operations in early 2014 to produce high-capacity, energy-efficient, and highly-proven ACCC Conductor Core in China, exclusively for the Chinese market.

Jiangsu NARI CTC Composite Material Co, Ltd produces ACCC Conductor core using CTC Global’s internally built pultrusion machines and specialized tooling. CTC Global manages the JV to ensure the highest quality, while supplying all of its proprietary raw materials and expertise. CTC Global Coronavirus Update

Since late February, CTC Global has been working to adapt our domestic and international operations to the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our objective from the beginning has been to keep team members safe while maintaining the ability to respond to customer needs.

We are pleased to report that all product shipments were met during the global lock down and that our offices will be reopening with full functionality on July 1 st .

Our new ACCC InfoCore™ System launched successfully with a strong reception by the industry, at the height of the lock down and we booked many orders which are slated for delivery later this year and into 2021. Our Field Service Department has also implemented virtual training and field support, and all of our active ACCC Installations remain underway. Additionally, our Engineering and Business Development Teams continue to support customers in the design phase via teleconferencing and webinars.

Please let us know how we can help you, and please stay well.
Remote Witnessing of ACCC ® Testing

If you’ve had a chance to view our Factory Tour Video , you may recall that our CEO, Mr. J.D. Sitton mentioned that our doors are always open and we typically host several utility customers in our factory every week to witness various tests. Due to Covid travel restrictions, we are now supporting our customers using various online methods so they can witness live factory testing, remotely.
ACCC Conductor is currently reducing CO 2 emissions by over 2.6 million metric tons per year - the equivalent of removing over 600,000 cars from the road
CTC Global's Conductor Comparison Program CCP™ Software is Available Online

CTC Global is pleased to announce that our highly regarded Conductor Comparison Program (CCP™) software is now available online. The new web-based version has all the features found in the Excel version, which has been replaced and will no longer be supported. The new version is designed to make it easier to use, and it also has some new features. Having CCP online will make it easier to keep it up-to-date with new wire files and other data, and to add improvements as they are made. Users will always know they have the current version every time they log in. CCP is also compatible with tablets.

Registration to use CCP requires only a valid email address and password. Users may also use CCP as a guest however, saving and export features are only available to registered users.
