How to Improve the Efficiency, Capacity, Reliability and Resilience of the Grid with #ACCCConductor
CTC Global Participates at Transmission East Summit

CTC Global sponsored and participated in the Transmission East Summit, produced by INFOCAST, held in Arlington Virginia, March 5th - 7th. The Transmission East Summit brought together many utility transmission planners & operators, state & federal regulators, educators, consultants, and various industry participants. The Summit addressed transmission issues from cybersecurity and resilience, to rate impacts and efficiency. CTC Global had the privilege of speaking on and moderating two panels.
CTC Global's David Townley (Director of Public Policy) had the opportunity to discuss, both on and off stage, the efficiency and operational benefits of installing the ACCC Conductor. In one lively panel, moderated by Townley, Commissioner Dana Murphy, Oklahoma Corporation commission, and Commissioner Willie Phillips, Public Service Commission of the district of Columbia, discussed how regulators are managing the costs and risks of replacing and upgrading an aging T&D infrastructure while preparing for an electric system that may have very different traits than today.

Another panel, Increasing the Efficiency of the Transmission System, with utility participants from operations and planning along with Townley explored ways to increase the efficiency of the grid while planning for a continuously evolving transmission system. CTC was able to provide examples of how advanced conductors, ACCC Conductor specifically, have been used to increase the efficiency by 30% or more on reconductored sections of the transmission grid.

Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Completes 14th ACCC Conductor Installation in Bangladesh

Earlier this month, PGCB completed the 43 route kilometer 132 kV Kushtia to Jhenaidah double circuit transmission line upgrade using 309.8 mm^2 Hawk size ACCC  Conductor to replace AAAC Grosbeak size. Existing lattice structures were reused without modification with spans ranging from 125 to nearly 450 meters which included a number of highway crossings. The ACCC conductor for this project was supplied by APAR Industries, Ltd . Hardware fittings for the project were supplied by Dervaux, and OMAC pullers and tensioners were used with Neoprene lined sheaves.
Project engineering, procurement and construction was accomplished by Angelique International Ltd. and executed by Tany Enterprises of Bangladesh. PGCB of Bangladesh provided installation services, supported by CTC Global's Regional Service Manager, Samudi Sampangi and Teams India Master Installers Mr. Vasantha Kumar & Mr. N. J. Balaji.

Pakistan Cables Completes 2nd ACCC Conductor Installation in Pakistan

Based on the initiative of Pakistan Cables Ltd, Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) completed their ACCC Conductor installation in Pakistan with the support of EPC Contractor Netracon Technologies by upgrading the 132 kV "NGPS to Industrial Estate" transmission line. ACCC Helsinki size conductor was selected for re-condutoring the 5 kilometer transmission line which replaced existing ACSR Coyote size conductor. This effectively raised the system capacity from 300 to 700 amps, without the need to modify the right-of-way or existing structures.

Steve Jackman, SVP Business Development of CTC Global said: "CTC Global welcomes MEPCO into the worldwide group of utilities using ACCC Conductor. CTC Global is pleased to support more than 200 power companies around the world who have already installed more than 70,000 kilometers of ACCC Conductor to leverage its economic benefits while helping assist in meeting climate change initiatives."

Following great discussions, it has become very clear that Pakistan's electric power system will benefit greatly from the use of high-capacity, energy-efficient ACCC Conductors. In addition to being the promoters of ACCC Conductor in Pakistan, Pakistan Cables also provided on-site training and installation support during the project execution.

CTC Global's Conductor Comparison Program CCP Software is Now Available Online

CTC Global is pleased to announce that our highly regarded Conductor Comparison Program (CCP) software is now available online, and is accessible at

The new web-based version has all the features found in the Excel version, which has been replaced and will no longer be supported. The new version is designed to make it easier to use, and it also has some new features. Having CCP online will make it easier to keep it up-to-date with new wire files and other data, and to add improvements as they are made. Users will always know they have the current version every time they log in. CCP is also compatible with tablets.

All data required for calculations is entered on one page. Representative ACCC® Conductors are automatically selected based on the "base" conductor selected. Some fields are automatically entered based on earlier entries or saved user preferences. For example, latitude is entered from a web app based on the project location, and currency conversion is provided using real-time web app information. The user can edit most input data, including default and automatically selected data. Registered users can save multiple projects, recall them, modify them and save them as new projects or overwrite the existing projects.

CCP comparison output is displayed on a separate page. Frequently changed input used for sensitivity analysis is conveniently provided on that same page to minimize toggling between pages. Registered users can export reports that break out sections of the output to PDF and Excel files.

Registration to use CCP requires only a valid email address and password. Users may also use CCP as a guest however, saving and export features are only available to registered users.

Thank you for using our CCP. We welcome your feedback. For technical support, please contact [email protected]
