Board President's Letter - Nancy Martin, MS

One step at a time.

Twelve weeks ago, the furthest I’d ever run was four miles. Today, I’m just under two weeks away from running my very first half-marathon—13.1 miles! It’s been a journey of growth, grit, and so many early mornings. I’ve been following a 14-week Nike Run training program, and I’m both humbled and amazed by how far I’ve come.

Throughout this process, I’ve learned so much about endurance—both physical and mental. And now, as I approach the end of this training cycle, I’m not only excited to reach the summit of this goal, but also incredibly grateful for each and every step it took to get here. Believe it or not, I’m planning to restart the program in July to keep building my strength—and to prepare for the big race in Detroit this October. Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment… or maybe I’ve just fallen in love with the run. More
