Review the 2025 ACCG Legislative Toolkit to Prepare for the Upcoming Session


The 2025 Legislative Toolkit is now available on the ACCG website. The Toolkit includes policy briefs on ACCG's top three Legislative Priorities as well as the association's Guiding Principles and Policy Objectives.  The top three Legislative Priorities for 2025 include House Bill 581 CleanupImplementation of Next Generation 911 System, and Truck Weight Increase/LMIG.


The 2025 Legislative Toolkit is a resource that will aid Georgia's county government officials in becoming more engaged in the state's policy-making process while asserting the collective voice of county commissioners in legislative affairs. County officials are encouraged to share this information with their legislative delegation ahead of the 2025 session.  


Questions regarding any issues outlined in the Toolkit should be directed to a member of the Governmental Affairs Team.

2024 Fall District Meetings are Underway - Register for a Meeting Today


There's still time to register for one of the seven remaining meetings taking place between November 13 - 21 around the state. ACCG staff and other issue experts will discuss a wide array of topics impacting counties and a review of the approved 2025 ACCG Policy Agenda and Legislative Priorities will take place. Registration is now open and those interested in attending can secure their spot by contacting their county clerk. Please feel free to invite your legislative delegation to attend as well.

Register for the ACCG-GMA Congressional Directed Spending (CDS) Requests Webinar

On Tuesday, Dec. 3, ACCG and GMA are co-hosting a Congressional Directed Spending (CDS) Requests webinar to provide county and city officials with information and best practices on how to apply for federal earmarks through the annual Congressionally Directed Spending /Community Project Funding process. The webinar will feature counties and cities that have been awarded earmarks along with input from representatives of Georgia's congressional offices. Local elected officials and county staff are encouraged to attend.

Immigration Webinars Available in November: Register Today!


As a result of House Bill 1105, which enacts several new requirements for entities, the Department of Audits and Accounts (DOAA) has launched a new Immigration Report Collection System. To ensure counties understand the new reporting requirements and the new system, ACCG and the Georgia Municipal Association are co-hosting two webinars on Friday, Nov. 15 and Tuesday, Nov. 19. Staff from DOAA will demonstrate the new reporting system, provide an overview of the reporting sections emphasizing the changes made, and be available to answer questions about the new system.

ACCG Needs County Assistance in Completing Surveys


Your input is needed. ACCG has reached out to county staff for assistance in completing two different surveys- truck weights and capital needs. The data collected will aid ACCG during the legislative session.

ARPA SLFRF "Obligation of Funds" FAQ Sheet Available


The deadline to obligate American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds is December 31, 2024. Counties are encouraged to review the FAQ sheet released by the U.S. Treasury on what's considered an obligation of funds.

DCA Announces $10 million in CHIP Grants Available Through 2025 


The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is currently accepting applications for the 2025 Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) grants. This grant cycle is offering $10 million in funding to local governments, nonprofits, and public housing authorities. Interested parties must submit applications using the Emphasys online portal by Friday, Jan. 31, 2025.

NACo Webinar on ADA Compliance for Government Websites: A Practical Conversation


Join the National Association of Counties on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 1:00 p.m., for a practical discussion on ADA website compliance and how to implement effective strategies to ensure your government website is inclusive for all residents. Key topics that will be covered include developing a strategy, practical tips for implementation, the role of vendors and third-party tools, and overcoming common challenges.

Apply for NACo’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils Peer Exchange


NACo recently announced the launch of their Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils Peer Exchange. This one-and-a-half-day event is an opportunity for representatives from a criminal justice coordinating council (“CJCC”) or other similar county-level entity to take part in peer learning and networking, hear from experts in the field, share successes and brainstorm solutions to common criminal justice challenges.   


NACo will select up to eight (8) Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils, with two (2) representatives per county, to be a part of this peer-learning event.  

 

To apply, please review the information sheet and fill out the application form by November 15, 2024, at 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time. Selected counties will be notified in December 2024. Applicants are asked to holdFebruary 5-7for an in-person convening in Arapahoe County, Colo. More details can be found in the linked information sheet.
