2020 Census Mailings

On March 12 - 20 households will begin receiving official Census Bureau mail with detailed information on how to respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone or by mail. In areas where 20 percent or more of the households need Spanish assistance, the invitations will be in both English and Spanish. County Spotlight

DeKalb County hosted a Census Carnival on Feb. 22 to have residents pledge to Count Everyone in Their Household on the 2020 Census. They also let residents know DeKalb County will receive $1.75 Billion dollars annually if 100% of DeKalb residents are counted.
Upcoming Census Events/Contest

  • Fulton County is hosting a video contest for high school students to create a 30-second PSA to encourage civic participation in the 2020 Census.
  • Brookhaven is hosting a Census festival on March 14 with games, food and bouncy houses.
  • East Point created a Census Youth Competition titled “What the Census Means to Me,” encouraging its youth to help #CountThePoint for the 2020 Census.

Apply Today for 2020 Census Jobs
It's not too late to apply for a temporary part-time position with the 2020 Census. The agency is hiring for a variety of temporary jobs, including census takers, recruiting assistants, office staff and supervisory staff. Most 2020 Census positions will last several weeks and feature competitive wages, weekly paychecks, flexible hours and paid training. Interested? Cities Count: Preparing for the 2020 Census
The National League of Cities’ Census Rapid Response Grant Program extends urgent financial resources for cities and their local partners to improve or increase Get Out The Count (GOTC) activities to reach historically undercounted communities. The are various amount sizes for the grant s. Proposals will be accepted on a rolling, on-going basis until all funds are granted, or by July 31, 2020, whichever comes first.  
Counting every person living in the United States is a massive undertaking, and efforts begin years in advance. In mid-March, homes across the country will start receiving invitations to complete the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, your residents should respond for their home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. Here's a look at some of the key dates for the Census .
Census 101

1. Put the Census logo on your county or city website
2. Take a picture and post to social media using the hashtag #GaLocalsCount
3. Make announcements at community wide events
4. Pass a resolution
5. Send a press release
6. Have a physical presence at community events
7. Work with your local school boards to implement Census Day activities (e.g., coloring pages, poster contests, etc.)
8. Get your Census bookmark from your local library
9. Reach out to your local chamber of commerce to ensure the business community is engaged
10.Post information in public spaces such as waiting rooms
