The city of East Point and Fulton County are having a 2020 Census Pop-Up event where attendees can fill out the census onsite and receive Covid-19 supplies and treats.

The DeKalb County Library, U.S. Census Bureau and the DeKalb County 2020 Census Team are hosting Library Census Days across the county. Attendees will have the opportunity to complete their 2020 Census survey onsite and receive a children’s book and popcorn.

The Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority is asking all industry leadership to provide a 10-minute opportunity for employees to fill out their Census form, whether online or by phone.

The Mobile Questionnaire Assistance (MQA) is part of the Census Bureau’s final push to encourage people in low responding areas to take the census. Through this program, census workers will come to your community to help people complete the census on a tablet or on their own device, while practicing state and local social distancing protocols. Census workers can also provide language support, which should be very helpful with increasing response rates in hard-to-count communities.

If your community is interested in participating in the MQA program, contact your local Census Bureau Partnership Specialist or contact Janet Lee.

At this time, MQAs are not available in COVID 19 “red zones” communities. But if your community is in a “red zone” and needs help with public access computers and/or hotspots, assistance is available. FairCount is providing hotspots and computers for low-internet and rural areas throughout the state. A list of library systems that are open to the public can be found here, which includes a list of available services. All library systems are providing Wi-Fi internet access from their parking lots. Now that census takers are going door-to-door across Georgia and elsewhere, the U.S. Census Bureau is making new data available. In addition to the 2020 Census Response Rate map at the bottom of this newsletter, local officials can monitor the Nonresponse Follow-up completion rate, which lists the percentage of households in the state that have been visited by a census taker and marked as complete. This information is updated daily and can be found here.

In addition, with the enumeration phase of the 2020 Census scheduled to end on September 30, it is more urgent than ever to let your residents know that you need their help in shaping the future of their communities.
