Local Design Standard Preemptions Still Alive
The two bills (HB 302 and SB 172) that would preempt local governments from enacting design standards on homes and duplexes are still alive for the 2020 legislative session. It is likely that measures to restrict local governments from regulating multi-family housing, manufactured housing, public housing and commercial design standards will also be discussed and/or introduced. Please stay informed on these issues through ACCG’s legislative updates and Facebook Live and urge your legislators to leave housing, zoning and land use authority to local governments, those officials who are elected and accountable to make these decisions on behalf of the communities they serve.
