Governor Kemp's Budget Recommendations
Additional Information - Pay Increase for Correctional Officers
The General Assembly spent the second week of the 2021 session in recess. Much attention remains on the Governor's proposed budget recommendations for both AFY 2021 and FY 2022. As mentioned in last week's newsletter, many of ACCG's funding priorities are included in Gov. Kemp's recommendations. Among those are funding for rural broadband, Forestland Protection Grants, and transportation infrastructure.

Also included in the budget recommendations is a 10% pay increase for correctional officers for both fiscal years. This proposed pay increase presents an implication for county budgets, specifically as it relates to potential requests for pay increases for local jailers.

The updated overview includes the information on the correctional officer pay increase as well as funding increases for the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
