An Advocacy e-Bulletin to Strengthen Our Community
Dear Childhood Cancer Advocate:
The Senate is currently debating the Budget Resolution, which establishes broad categories of spending levels (health, defense, transportation, etc.) through 2023.

Senators Durbin (D-IL) and Moran (R-KS) have offered an amendment that would create a deficit-neutral reserve fund. This reserve fund would serve as a framework for increased funding of biomedical research sponsored or supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) over the next 10 years. In addition to Senators Durbin and Moran, the amendment is being sponsored by Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Barbara Mikulski (D-MD).

A vote on this amendment will likely occur today.

The American Childhood Cancer Organization would like to thank Senators Durbin and Moran for their efforts to maintain critical funding for medical research that may one day cure childhood cancer. As a Maryland-based organization, we would like to exend a special "thank you" to Maryalnd Senators Cardin and Mikulski for their sponsorship of the amendment.

Please take action today by contacting your Senators to express support for the Durbin/Moran amendment to the budget resolution. A list of Senators and their contact information can be found HERE.

Thank you for adding your voice to this critical effort to help improve treatments for our children.
