As mentioned in our December newsletter, AB 3018 was passed and signed last year, amending the skilled and trained workforce requirements for public contracts in the Public Contract Code.
To assist in clarifying the obligation and affects AB 3018 has on design professional services, ACEC California will be releasing a guide for members shortly via e-mail, as it is currently in development.

If your chapter is interested in hosting a fundraiser, raffle, etc benefiting the ACEC Federal PAC, you may contact ljeglinski@acec-ca.org for guidelines and information. We strongly encourage our chapters to please do this!

Minuteman Fund Helps Defeat Prop. 6
|
To help protect
Senate Bill 1 (SB1), the Road Repair and Accountability act of 2017 and defeat
Proposition 6 during the last election, our ACEC Minuteman Fund from our national office in Washington D.C. granted ACEC California $225,000 that we contributed toward the campaign. Now it is our job to help replenish the fund.
ACEC California members have the option to contribute to the Minuteman Fund when paying membership dues. Please consider making whatever contribution you can to the fund. The Minuteman Fund is there to help support all of our ACEC Member organizations across the United States, when they have important issues like this to fight.

Mandatory Harassment Prevention Training
A new law that took effect on January 1, 2019, requires virtually all California employers to provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees. Specifically, by January 1, 2020, employers
with five or more employees must provide one hour of sexual harassment prevention training to nonsupervisory employees and two hours of such training to supervisors. In order to comply with the January 1, 2020 deadline, all employees must be trained during the calendar year 2019.
Employees who were trained in 2018 or before will need to be retrained. This new requirement reflects an expansion of the prior harassment training law that's been in place for over a decade, which requires employers with 50 or more employees to provide sexual harassment prevention training to all supervisors in California.
If you are a CalChamber member, you can purchase their self guided courses for supervisors and employees
here.
