Dear ACEC California members:
We are pleased to announce that at the October Board of Directors meeting, our Board selected Assembly Member Jim Frazier as their 2015 Legislator of the Year.
Each year, ACEC California chooses a legislator that shares our values, shows political courage, is a leader and believes in the private sector's ability to get things done.
Assembly Member Frazier, a Democrat first elected in 2012, demonstrates all of those traits.
Author of Assembly Bill 194, Mr. Frazier, whose district includes Fairfield, Vacaville, Rio Vista, Antioch, Brentwood and his hometown, Oakley, strongly supports high-occupancy toll lanes.
Signed into law by Governor Brown in September, AB 194 authorizes a regional transportation agency or the Department of Transportation to apply to the California Transportation Commission to develop and operate HOT lanes or other toll facilities. The bill also removes the existing limitation on the number of facilities that may be approved.
The Assembly Member also believes in the expansion of alternative project delivery methods and that California's freight mobility system is the heart and soul of our economy.
"Jim Frazier wants an improved transportation system," said Bruce Presser, ACEC California President, "He is courageous and not afraid to stand up for his values including the role that private sector plays with delivering these projects. We are pleased to honor him with this award."
ACEC California will present Mr. Frazier with a plaque at an event in his district, with the details to be determined.
If you have any questions about this award or any legislative matter, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Kelly Garman
Director of Government Affairs
