2022 PLATINUM ANNUAL SPONSORS!

ACECL BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The next ACECL Board of Governors meeting will be held on January 20, 2023.

PRESIDENT & CEO MESSAGE

As 2022 draws to an end, I wanted to quickly reflect on the past year and all ACECL was able to accomplish in the pursuit of our mission to promote and advance the business of engineering. The 2021-2022 Annual Report below highlights many of the achievements and milestones reached, but I wanted to single out just a few:

  • Passing legislation to statutory define the incidental practice of engineering was a huge success for our members culminating nearly 10-years of work by ACECL and other stakeholder organizations. Thank you again to all those whose steadfast commitment to the effort made it a reality.

  • This year we were able to make great inroads with the City of New Orleans and their QBS procurement practices. While we still have work to do, a collaborative foundation has been laid to offer suggested best practices for adoption and implementation. ACECL’s continued protection of state and federal Qualifications Bases Selection (QBS) laws is more important now than ever. As the fluidity of government leadership and representation only becomes more rapid, ACECL will ramp up its efforts to educate new state and local elected officials on both the existence and importance of the Hammett Act.

  • The Consultant Outreach Group (COG) established with the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has produced sound policies that have mutually benefited both the consultant community and the agency. Rooted in a collaborative purpose, the DOTD COG has proven to be a great model for communication and purposeful problem solving. So much so, ACECL created a second COG with CPRA this year and is in the process of forming one with the Office of Facility Planning and Control in the upcoming year.

Again, these are just a few of the things ACECL was able to achieve for our members in 2022, and we hope to build upon the successes of the past to accomplish greater successes in the future.

On a personal note, I would like to extend a sincere Thank You to each and everyone of you for making 2022 one of the most special years of my life. When anyone steps into a new leadership role like I did a year ago, there are always those feelings of uncertainty and insecurity that can quickly leave one doubting their ability live up to expectations. By God’s grace, He blessed me with a staff, a Board of Governors and a membership that welcomed me with patience, guidance, encouragement, and at times the blunt truth, that helped me find my feet in what I now consider the place I was meant to be. It is truly an honor to lead ACECL and go to work for the business of engineering each and every day.

ACECL is proud to play a small role in the success of our member firms and are committed to serving you to help accomplish your goals. Cheers to a prosperous 2023, and many years after, to you and your firms!
