ACECL WELCOMES NEW PRESIDENT & CEO
Barker Dirmann
The Board of Governors for the American Council of Engineering Companies of Louisiana has chosen Ascension Parish Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Barker Dirmann as its next president and CEO.

Dirmann has been with the Ascension Chamber since 2018 and will begin his tenure at ACECL on December 13, 2021.

"I am excited for the opportunity to join the ACECL as its next President & CEO," Dirmann said. "My work with the business community and government has prepared me to get right to work advancing the interests of Louisiana's engineering companies and strengthening the business environment for its members."

Dirmann has extensive experience in public policy and advocacy serving as the Manager of Governmental Affairs for the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for former Governor Bobby Jindal.

"Louisiana consulting engineers are problem solvers taking on the state’s most complex challenges," he said. "As economic drivers for our state, it is critical that their interests be represented among legislative, regulatory, legal and governmental decision-makers, and I am eager to lead, guide and direct that effort on behalf of our 130 member companies."
Andreé Cortez, chairman of the ACECL Board of Governors, said the board is happy to have Dirmann joining the organization, citing his "unique set of qualifications and experience that position him to easily transition to ACECL.

In addition to his credentials, Mr. Dirmann understands and can articulate complex policy issues and has demonstrated success managing a diversified organization," Cortez said.
Dirmann has a BS degree from LSU, and a law degree from Southern University School of Law. He serves on several community service boards including Rotary Club of Gonzales, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University Business Advisory Board and Ascension Parish Balloon Festival Board.  Dirmann resides in Prairieville with his wife and two sons.
