Dear Friend of The Arc of Adams County,
We are writing to let you know about the positive changes that we are making at The Arc. We will be working with The Arc of York County to better meet the needs of Adams County residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We have all undergone changes in the past few years and in fact some of you can remember when The Arc changed its name.
We plan to stay true to our mission: Empower people with intellectual and other disabilities to become active, vocal, and skilled community members. That mission extends to supporting families and to educating the community on employing and living side-by-side with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Arc of York and Adams Counties is dedicated to improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. We are devoted to promoting and providing support and services for people with intellectual disabilities and to foster research and education regarding the prevention of intellectual disabilities in infants and young children.
We are committed to better meet the needs of all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and ensure that they have the opportunity to choose where and how they learn, live, work, and play.
We have found that the major needs in Adams County are advocacy, navigating the State system to help families receive services, and employment.
Please be assured that Adams County residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families will benefit from the additional resources The Arc of York County brings to this partnership. Any financial support you have provided in the past will benefit Adams County residents.
We cannot tell you how lucky we feel to have your support. As we go forward we are going to ask for your help, support and guidance. More detailed communications will follow.
