 3 Simple Ways to Stay in Touch with Your Customers            
 
Your handyman business is based on forming lasting relationships. However, it's not always easy to communicate without sounding as if you're fishing for business. If you want to stay in touch with customers without seeming obvious, you need to do so in a memorable and meaningful way. Take a look at these 3 easy ways to stay in touch and better connected with your customers.
 
Do something nice.
 
Building customer relationships is about more than just what you want, but what you can provide. If you are creative, you can give both tangible and intangible things to your customers. When you choose to give is when you build a real relationship and connection. If you focus on what you can get out of it, you'll fail to build long-term relationships. So, go ahead and do something nice.
 
Ask for meaningful input.
 
While it's great to ask how you can improve your products or services, take it a step further. Ask your customers to share their expertise. Ask if they will be testers and try a product or service for free of change in exchange for recommendations for improvement.
 
Keep in mind that you should already have a relationship established before seeking input in this manner. If you try this tactic with new customers, they may justifiably assume that you are just trying to sell them more products.
 
Keep helpful notes.
 
Think about how you would feel if you ran into a customer and he asked, "How is Sam doing in Kindergarten?"
 
You'd be surprised he knows your child's name and his grade. What if you can barely remember your customer's name, much less his children's names and grades in school?
 
It's very important to remember something personal about each customer. This is why you should keep an informal database and add notes to your contacts. Do what works for you. Before you pick up the phone to call them, or prior to composing an email, scan your notes so you are up to speed on his or her life.
 
 
When it comes to staying in touch with your customers, go ahead and put in the effort. It's worth it.
