4 Traits a Great Handyman Professional Should Possess
You may be excellent at the tasks you perform each day, but it takes more than just being skilled to become an excellent handyman professional. Look at these customer service skills that actually matter on a daily basis.
Patience
When you work with customers, it's vital to stay patient when they ask you questions. Make sure you take the time to figure out exactly what they want and how you can deliver - if not, they'll likely find a handyman or handywoman who will. Don't rush through things and remember that excellent service beats fast service.
Time management skills
It's important to pay attention to detail and not speed through projects, but it's just important to manage your time. It's not smart to go above and beyond in an area where you are wasting both your's and the customer's time.
A calming presence
You need to be the person who can keep their cool under pressure. Make sure you have the ability to stay calm even if things are hectic. You'll probably encounter a hairy situation on occasion, but customers will want to stick with you if you act like a rock when they feel like the world is crumbling beneath them.
Able to handle surprises
This goes along with the point above. Maybe your customer isn't reacting the way you predicted or maybe a situation went awry; whatever the case, it's vital to be able to think on your feet. Have a plan in place to find an answer for the problem: who will you ask for help, what will you do if you get in over your head and how will you keep in contact with your customer so he or she is in the loop?
As you run your handyman business, do so with tenacity and keep your customers top of mind. When you possess these skills, you'll find not only job satisfaction, but build a group of loyal customers too.

Directory?
Many customers visit our directory listings daily! Unfortunately, some of you have not renewed or correctly submitted your listing to the directory.
If your listing is not displaying, log in to your ACHP account and renew or click on "create a listing", fill in the info, then click "continue/submit" then the "submit" button on the next page to activate your listing. Please note clicking the "save" link will not submit your listing to the directory, you must click "submit".
Note: ACHP does not, nor is it a referral based company. However, ACHP allows you as a member, to use our directory listing to advertise your services.

Are your Customers Able to Find You?

Our search requests continue to increase significantly. The new search engine installed in August was indeed what the doctor ordered. This means more and more folks are browsing our directory listings. However, many of you have not updated your listing in a while. In some cases, customers are having difficulties reaching you because of outdated information in your listing. How do we know this? Some of them are calling ACHP. Makes us wonder how many customers are reluctant to go the extra mile thus contacting someone else with a working or displayed phone number, etc.
To fix this problem:
Log in to your member account and:
- Ensure you have access, if not contact us immediately.
- Click on "My Directory Listings" then "Edit". Ensure your information is up to date.
- Enter a city, state, zip code in the display map. If not, the search engine will not be able to find you by zip code search.

Ensure your email and phone number is correct, etc. Add more unique keywords.
