Latest Florida Insurance Update: from our carrier "We are actively working with the state of Florida and their Department of Insurance to launch coverage for ACHP members. At this point we're waiting on the state of FL. Our hope is to be available in August, but we know there's a chance of slippage. 4 Safety Tips to Abide By

Almost all handyman jobs involve risks, and staying safe on the job is paramount. As a handyman professional, you're exposed to various potential dangers daily, from climbing on ladders and roofs to using power nailers and pressure washers. Look at these safety tips you should abide by every time you're on the job.

Watch for falling tools

You know the basics, like wearing goggles. But there are ways you can get hurt that you may not expect. Make sure not to leave tools on top of framing or ladders - the vibrations can move tools that could fall on top of someone who is working below. Tools left on ladders or other unsecured areas are an accident waiting to happen.

Make sure to avoid electrical shock

Electrical shocks can be fatal. Always check live wires with a noncontact voltage testing prior to reaching for them. Never make assumptions about electricity. Check and double-check all the wires before you start doing any electrical work.

Set up ladders properly

If you find yourself with a ladder that is too short, don't add it to planks to get it to the height you need. The planks will slip causing the ladder - and you - to go down, too. Ladders are very dangerous when they aren't use with care, but you can avoid many accidents by following proper ladder safety techniques and using some common sense.

Clamp metal sheets before drilling

Drilling holes in metal is a common handyman task that involves a great deal of risk. When handymen or handywomen are in a hurry and don't take the time to compress the metal to a surface, this can lead to metal being forcefully moved, and potentially cutting your body. Always make sure you clamp metal to a table before you start drilling.

Handymen and handywomen are exposed to a lot of hazards, and working without the property safety equipment or acting carelessly can lead to serious injuries. Use these four useful safety tips that can help you prevent injuries while on the job.

It helps others visualize correct practices and allows you to give back to our craft; "give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime". Are your Customers Able to Find You?

Our search requests continue to increase significantly. The new search engine installed in August was indeed what the doctor ordered. This means more and more folks are browsing our directory listings. However, many of you have not updated your listing in a while. In some cases, customers are having difficulties reaching you because of outdated information in your listing. How do we know this? Some of them are calling ACHP. Makes us wonder how many customers are reluctant to go the extra mile thus contacting someone else with a working or displayed phone number, etc.

To fix this problem:

Ensure you have access, if not contact us immediately.
Click on "My Directory Listings" then "Edit". Ensure your information is up to date.
Enter a city, state, zip code in the display map. If not, the search engine will not be able to find you by zip code search.

Ensure your email and phone number is correct, etc. Add more unique keywords.
