Missing the ACHS in 2020 really reinforced how special these shows are, and we are so grateful to everyone who came together to make the 2021 horse shows a reality. Spending two lovely weeks in the most beautiful horse country, with some of the most beautiful horses and riders, is what dreams are made of. Our goal has always been to bring Bruce Duchossois's vision of growing the show grounds into South Carolina’s premier equestrian facility, maintaining its historic character, and paying forward the generosity of his predecessors, to life. Everyone who has supported us throughout the years have been a big part of helping us achieve this goal! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We wish everyone safe travels home, and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2022.

Josh Dolan was awarded the Aiken Saddlery Jumper Style Award between the first and second rounds of Saturday night's $50,000 Aiken Premier Grand Prix sponsored by the City of Aiken. In the first round of the class, Dolan unfortunately parted ways with his mount Ekilly Van Der Horst, but all who saw agreed it was the most graceful and athletic unplanned dismount they'd ever witnessed.

Saturday night, May 8th, we honored Mr. Richard Duchossois for all of his contributions to the Aiken Horse Park Foundation. The future is bright for the Aiken Horse Park and the Duchossois legacy lives on better than ever. Just before the $50,000 Premier Grand-Prix sponsored by the City of Aiken, he was presented with the oil rendering of the iconic Bruce's Field statue memorializing the late Bruce Duchossois that has hung in the AHPF Office.

AIKEN STEEPLECHASE ASSOCIATION |
In 2000, Bruce Duchossois bought this beautiful 66 acre track of land to save it from development. In doing so, he helped preserve the sport of steeplechasing in Aiken and provided for spectacular venue to hold the type of horse shows he cherished. Shows that were exhibitor friendly, had loads of hospitality, and gave back to his beloved community of Aiken.
Sadly, he did not live to see his dream to fruition, but we all like to think he is watching down and smiling to see his friends enjoying themselves, and the competition is steep.
Today gathered together members of the Aiken Steeplechase Association board, President Paul Saureborn, Vice-President Jim Geddes, and board member Mike Hosang, along with Aiken Horse Park Foundation board President Jack Wetzel, Vice President & Treasurer Tara Bostwick, and board member and Capital Campaign Chair Bob Hottensen and had the distinct pleasure of presenting the Aiken Steepelchase with a check for $271,000.

This year the Aiken Charity Horse Shows are dedicated to support these two deserving charities. Both Mental Health America, and Equestrian Aid Foundation stepped up to support the many in need as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Mental Health America has been working tirelessly to support the "unseen" victims of the pandemic. Equestrian Aid Foundation provided much needed support to the many in the equine industry also effected by the pandemic through loss of employment. Please help us to raise both awareness, and funds on their behalf. |

The mission of Mental Health America of Aiken County is to serve as an advocate and a community resource by promoting positive mental health in Aiken County.

Equestrian Aiken Foundation
The Equestrian Aid Foundation provides emergency, lifesaving financial grants to horsemen and women coping with loss of income due to catastrophic injury or illness. EAF invests in the future of its recipients, giving them the resources to recover and thrive in the face of adversity.
|

The Mental Health Association of Aiken County provides a program that is called Welcome Baby to new moms. A member of Welcome Baby goes to the hospital with a basket of goodies and a new carseat and spends some time with the new mom. She meets someone from MHAAC and is given a phone number of that person she met. Problem is, without being able to fundraise due to Covid, MHAAC is down $30,000. They are in need of donations to support the Welcome Baby program. That's where you come in.
As part of the ACHS's commitment to partner with community organizations, Bruce's Field will be designated as a drop-off for diapers and wipes. We will have a box just outside the front door and would very much appreciate your support. Headed to the store to grab something for your barn? Why not pick up a box of wipes or a bag of diapers!

Our friends at Aiken Equine Rescue recently suffered a catastrophic barn fire. Luckily no animals perished, but the barn was destroyed as were gators, shavings, hay and feed. We are asking all of our participants to consider buying an extra bag of feed or bale of hay that you can leave at Bruce's Field when the show is over. We will then pack everything up and bring it over to the Rescue for their benefit. |
