ACHS Adoption Event last Sunday at Friendly Paws | | This season has brought us many kittens, and each is sweeter and more mischievious than the last. We’ve had a few singletons come through our foster program, but these litters are like teams competing for Most Memorable! | | First up are the famous Walmart Kittens: two boys and two girls who quickly captured everyone’s hearts. These playful kittens are full of energy and curiosity. While they much prefer zooming around and wrestling with one another over being held, they never fail to make us smile. | | Next: the Greenhouse Kids. This welcoming group did something special when they opened their little family to two orphaned kittens, Little Orphan Annie and Peanut Breadcrumb. Thanks to their acceptance, these orphaned babies gained not only companions but a chance to thrive. | | Then there are the Boxcar Children: Bennie, Violet, and Jessie. Found on a train in Nelsonville, these resilient kittens have quite the story to tell. They also earned another distinction as this year’s panleukopenia survivors. Their recovery is a testament to the dedication of our fosters and veterinary partners. | | The Tree Babies came to us thanks to some observant students on campus. After hearing kittens crying behind their apartment building, they diligently watched for mom. When she never returned, they reached out for help and we scooped the babies up. According to their foster, Nancy, they have been the best little kittens. | | |
The Woodpile Kids were discovered living in a woodpile in Jacksonville and were quickly brought to safety. What started as a difficult situation has become another rescue success story, with these little ones now thriving in foster care.
These are a few of the many kittens who have come through our program this season. Every one of them represents hours of care, countless volunteer efforts, and the incredible impact our supporters make possible. Thank you all for helping us give these kittens the chance to grow up safe, healthy, and loved.

Nala in Swahili means "Gift," and this beautiful one-year-old marmalade tabby lives up to her name. Nala was rescued on a cold February day when she was days away from giving birth. On Feb. 9, two adorable kittens were added to our ACHS family.
All three are now thriving and up for adoption. Mama Nala has been lovingly devoted to her girls while always cozying up to her foster caregiver. She's a cat who greets people at the door with head nudges and purrs of pleasure.
Nala is often playful and especially loves nice pole chases. She's relaxed and friendly. Mama Nala, or, as her foster calls her, Mamalade, is a wonderful companion kitty,
truly a cat who is laid back and affectionate.
Nala may be fine as an only cat, but knowing that she connects with people, it's ideal if she is adopted to a home where she is sure to get the love and attention she enjoys.

Evelyn is a remarkable girl with a story of strength, resilience, and love. After surviving panleukopenia and raising her babies, Etta, Pippa, Kate, and Hunter, later in life, Evelyn has more than earned her chance at the good life. Through everything she’s faced, she has remained a devoted mother and a true trooper.
Now that her kittens are growing up, it’s finally Evelyn’s turn to be cared for and spoiled the way she deserves. She is ready for a forever home where she can relax, feel safe, and enjoy all the comforts of indoor life. Whether she’s lounging in a sunny spot, enjoying affection from her people, or simply soaking in the peace and quiet, Evelyn is ready to leave her hard days behind her.
Evelyn’s journey is a testament to her incredible spirit, and she deserves a family who will cherish her for the wonderful cat she is. She is approximately six years old.

Cain is our longest resident, and more than anything we want to see him find a home of his own. He’s safe and loved in a foster home, but still waiting for the forever family he’s never had.
When Cain first came to us, it was clear he hadn’t known much kindness. He had spent much of his life chained outside, without the comfort every dog deserves.
Even then his loving, excited personality was waiting to shine. With time, care, and the support of his foster family, Cain has completely come into his own: he’s affectionate, eager, and full of life. He gets excited to see his people, leans in for attention, and has fully embraced the joys of indoor living (especially cozy blankets).
Cain would do best in a quiet home with no other animals, where he can truly relax and feel secure. He has so much love to give and has been waiting far too long for someone to give him a chance.
He has waited longer than any dog should. It’s his turn.

Fern is a sweet ~2 year old girl who is looking for a calm, low-key home to call her own. This gorgeous brown tabby would love to be the queen of the castle and would do best as the only cat in the home.
Fern enjoys the simple things in life, curling up in a comfy bed, lounging in a cat tree, and spending quiet time with her people. She would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a gentle and peaceful feline friend.
