SESAR DM outlines rollout progress
The SESAR Deployment Manager has outlined the progress of the European ATM modernisation programme with some key figures on current deployment. The implementation projects supported by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Transport Call 2014 are reported to be on track and are expected to bring tangible benefits to the aviation sector and, in general, to the community.

Amsterdam Schiphol transforming Lounge 2 with innovative retail and F&B offer 
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol handled 58 million passengers last year and in 2016, its centenary year, it expects to reach 60 million. "More people are flying and the economic prospects are getting better," asserts Michiel van Goor, Project Manager Lounge 2, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Frankfurt happy with progress on digital switch-over
A little more than a year ago, the FrankfurtAIR@Link (FAIR@Link) cargo community system (CCS) went into operation at Germany's busiest air freight hub. According to Frankfurt airport operator Fraport, since the system was introduced at the gateway in January 2015, the number of users and also the volume of cargo handled via FAIR@Link have grown steadily.

Low cost carriers aren't disruptors... they're the innovators
When it comes to Europe, particularly across the East, low cost carriers have dominated the industry. But the boom certainly isn't over just yet. Last year, we witnessed Ryanair become the number one airline operating from Poland, after overtaking the national carrier LOT Polish Airlines and with predictions that European low-cost carriers (LCCs) will continue to outgrow their full service airline rivals, what can we now expect from the region?

Vueling and Ryanair battle for Spanish supremacy; Madrid growing fast once more as UK market set to see significant growth in S16
This year should see Spanish airports handle a record number of passengers. Last year saw passenger demand grow by almost 6%, and if that growth rate is maintained, in 2016 the country's airports will process around 220 million passengers, finally breaking the record set in 2007 of just over 210 million.

GroupEAD and EUROCONTROL will continue their successful EAD cooperation until 2020
During the World ATM Congress, GroupEAD and EUROCONTROL have signed the extension of the agreement for the management of the European AIS Database (EAD) until 2020, continuing the successful cooperation that started back in 2003.
