National Council for Mental Wellbeing
A government shutdown was averted on Friday, March 15, 2025, when President Trump signed the Continuing Resolution (CR) passed by both the House and Senate. This CR extends government funding through September 30, 2025, largely maintaining FY2024 funding levels with some exceptions.
Key points from the CR include:
-Mental health and substance use program funding is generally maintained at current levels, including Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Expansion Grants and Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) grants.
-SAMHSA's Health Surveillance and Program Support funding is reduced by approximately $144 million.
-Medicare telehealth flexibilities are extended through September 30, 2025.
