ACMS SNAPSHOTS

ACMS Bi-Monthly Newsletter Returns

Welcome Back

It's been awhile since our last e-newsletters hit your inbox. Starting this month, ACMS members will be kept in-the-know on a bi-monthly basis though our revamped e-newsletter: "ACMS Snapshots".

Watch for: Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses and state mandated training programs for license renewals, information on upcoming networking events, and timely updates on advocacy focused initiatives. We will be highlighting clinicians and staff from the ACMS and we looking forward to offering new ways to foster conversation and awareness of current issues among our members.

Last, but not least, we want to hear from you, the members of ACMS. Our goal is to produce newsletters, events and course offerings with the greatest compassion and highest quality, because you deserve nothing less. E-mail Mel Mayer at mmayer@acms.org with ideas for the e-newsletter content.

What have we been up to?

We kicked off the "Navigating Your Career in Medicine" Series on September 7 at the Foundry in the North Shore. We heard from the team from Axias Wealth Management about student loan repayment. Attendees also heard from our Board President, Dr. Peter Eliis about patient communication.

We are excited to kick off part 2 of this series on Oct. 12.

September 17th is National Physician Suicide Awareness Day, #NPSADay.

Our goal is to help foster a region committed to supporting one another, building connection, practicing empathy and focusing on helping physicians find ways to reset.

Make sure you check us out on social media or our webpage to find local discounts and deals for physicians and healthcare workers.

On August 27, ACMS members gathered for our first in-person training program since 2020!

The Mandated Reporter Training for Professionals program hosted Jacqueline Wilson, PhD, CEO of Three Rivers Adoption Council and offered a lot of delicate but necessary information on how to handle child abuse situations.

The ACMS will host a repeat of this program on December 3. Registration will be open soon.

Register for this event by emailing mmayer@acms.org

Who or what is on your screensaver for your phone?

I didn’t change the screen from the default since I just bought a new phone. I would put a family picture on, but my kids are teenagers so try may not like this.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Nobody ever reflected on their life and wished they worked more. Prioritize the important people in your life.

Mocha latte. I just love chocolate.

Not a fan, but if I order something it’s always a Café Au Lait.

Hellos & Goodbyes

In August, the ACMS Administrative Staff said hello and goodbye. Dottie Hostovich (center right) has worked for ACMS for 25 years and has come out of retirement twice to support ACMS. Abigail Casario (center left) worked as our summer intern and returns to Penn State for her junior year.
