New Year, Updated ACMS Bulletin

Join the ACMS Bulletin Editorial Board in 2024

As we kick off a new year, the ACMS is excited to launch an updated version of the ACMS Bulletin. The intentional shift will showcase an updated look, targeted content, and a deeper dive into the issues that are important to the physicians in Allegheny County.

We need your help! The ACMS Bulletin Editorial Board is looking for fresh faces to help move the Bulletin forward. If you have an interest in writing for the Bulletin and/or reviewing content and suggesting improvements, please submit your name for consideration by Jan. 31, 2024.

Register

The Pennsylvania Immunization Registry (PA SIIS) is transitioning to a new Immunization Information System named Pennsylvania Immunization Electronic Registry System (PIERS) with a go-live date of January 17, 2024.

On January 10, the ACMS will host a virtual webinar with PA Department of Health. Join us from 6:00 - 7:30 PM to learn about the dynamic changes reshaping Pennsylvania's immunization management landscape. Anyone with a role in documenting immunization information, managing vaccine inventory, or placing vaccine orders is encouraged to attend.

Upcoming Events in 2024:

Women in Healthcare Committee: The Women in Healthcare Committee is hard at work planning several events for 2024. On February 22, they will host their first event of 2024 at the Pittsburgh Winery. This event will include an opportunity for residents, students and fellows to speed network with established physicians in their specialties of interest. Of course, an event at a winery is nothing without a wine tasting! Attendees will enjoy a complimentary wine tasting and informal networking.

Registration is open and limited to 50 guests.

Complimentary CME for ACMS Members: As we welcome the new year, it's time to consider the renewal process for your Continuing Medical Education (CME) licensure for the year 2024. The ACMS is pleased to offer several opportunities for CME in 2024. Members will have complimentary access to virtual CME, as well as several in-person options, throughout the year. Our first quarter options include:

Feb. 20: Virtual CME - Quality Insights (Opioid)

Mar. 21: In-Person Breakfast CME with James Latronica, DO

Join us for a family-friendly, members-only event this summer. The Allegheny County Medical Society will host “ACMS Night at the Pirates Game” on Saturday, August 24, 2024. The Pirates will take on the Cincinnati Reds, followed by a Zambelli Fireworks Night at PNC Park.

Registrants are invited to attend a pre-game tailgate starting at 4:45 PM at the ACMS Headquarters in the Babb Building Blitzburgh room. Free parking will be available at the Building.

Registration is open - tickets are $45 and include pre-game tailgate for the first 100 registrants.
