A September to Remember
Physicians have one of the highest suicide rates of any profession. It is a startling statistic that many are not aware of. This month, the ACMS acknowledged this trend through our awareness campaign “Putting Self-Care in Healthcare”. We provided various ways to help physicians recognize when they need to stop, rest, and focus on the basics. Our initiative offered a variety of local discounts for physicians and healthcare workers to encourage them to prioritize rest, hydration, exercise, food, friends, and fun.
We hoped to create a bridge of connection, show empathy, and have fun. While we recognize that discounts and giveaways won’t solve the problem of physician burnout, we hope it is a starting point for a continued conversation on ways that our community and the ACMS can continue to support physicians.
We are wrapping up our campaign this week! Consider joining us for our wrap-up event on September 30th at Orangetheory Fitness East End for a 90-minute class from 6-7:30 pm. Email Melanie Mayer to register. Additionally, we’ll be giving away our grand prize at the end of the month. One way to win, is simply by renewing your ACMS/PAMED membership by 9/30.
Visit us on social media or our website to revisit all the discounts that were highlighted in September. And be sure to click here to view the "Thank You” video message from Governor Tom Wolf.
