CMS has released the 2022 Physician Fee Schedule and Quality Payment Program (QPP) Final Rule, and the message of these 2,414 pages is clear: CMS wants to push providers into value-based care arrangements. That intent was foreshadowed by the Proposed Rule released over the summer, which confirmed our predictions of trends under the Biden administration.
Health disparities are a long-standing challenge in the United States and worldwide. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and its higher impact on vulnerable and marginalized groups, more attention is being directed towards achieving health equity. With a focus on the relationship between health, social factors, and their role in public health, researchers, policy makers and the public at large have noticed and documented health disparities between a range of population groups.
Recently, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a proposal for it’s 2022 Physician Fee Schedule. Over the last several years, more non-traditional modalities of healthcare have found their way into the CMS reimbursement landscape. This is promising as it suggests that CMS is aligning themselves with consumer demand and technology developments by incentivizing physicians to deliver care in a way that caters to the preferences of their patients.
In today’s world of big data, the ability to collect, store, analyze, and move data from one place to another has become essential to business operations. Unlimited variables exist within the creation of data and it gets more complicated by storing and merging. No surprise to anyone, having access to quality, accurate, consistent, and secure data is critical to healthcare.
