We would like to thank all of our participants, speakers, volunteers, and exhibitors for joining us at the two-day virtual conference mounted by the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB), the Alberta Association of Forest Management Professionals (AAFMP), and the Association of the Chemical Profession of Alberta (ACPA) on December 2nd and 3rd. We are happy to boast that the event attracted 456 attendees, of which 57 were student members of the associations; 115 attended from the ASPB, 283 from the AAFMP, and 40 from the ACPA, with 18 non-affiliated registrants.

Attendees will have access to all the materials on the platform for another week. You may also find recordings of the sessions in the Library if you scroll down to the bottom of the list. You may also download all of the materials that the speakers have provided.

Congratulations to Jaclyn Repchuk, Chemist at Wilson Analytical Services Inc., and member of the ACPA Marketing Committee for her winning video entry 'My Day as a Chemist in Training (CIT).
This new virtual Ethics course will retain much of the material and the interactive elements that our members value in the previous one day course. The course will provide an introduction to the ethical framework that guides professional chemists in the conduct of their duties. The course still focuses on solving practical issues that arise in professional practice.

ACPA is hosting a Student Research Video competition and is inviting both graduate and undergraduate students to participate. This event will provide motivation, encouragement, and most of all, recognition to Professional Chemists of the future.

If you are looking for an industrial job, this is also a great addition to your resume, demonstrating that you have been active beyond the classroom.

Nominations from the membership must be received at the ACPA office by
March 14, 2021, with the written consent of the nominee. The nominee must be a member in good standing, and the nomination must be signed by at least three (3) members in good standing. If the three sponsoring members cannot all sign a single copy, they can each fax, mail, or email a copy of the nomination form with their signature and the name of the nominee to the ACPA office.
New Directors will be elected and installed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 28, 2021.

The ACPA Undergraduate Scholarship in Chemistry ($1000) is awarded annually to a student who is registered in a full-time undergraduate chemistry program at a university in the province of Alberta.

Application Deadline: March 31, 2021
The ACPA has established the Arthur Bollo-Kamara Scholarship as a memorial tribute to Arthur Bollo-Kamara, Ph.D., P.Chem., and the work he conducted on behalf of chemists in this province. This $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student registered in a graduate chemistry program at a university in the province of Alberta.

The Chemist's Ring is available for sale to any ACPA Professional Chemist who is a member in good standing. Completion of the Professional Ethics for Chemists and the Jurisprudence courses is a requirement to remain a member in good standing.

Note: Limited quantities of all sizes of titanium rings are currently in stock.
All current members have until December 31st to complete this course. New members and CIT's must complete this course before they can use the P.Chem. title.
The ACPA Jursiprudence Course is an online course that can be completed in approximately three hours. To access the course, sign in to your ACPA online account and look for the Jurisprudence course under the Member Menu. You will need to register for the course with a one-time fee of $150 + GST. Thereafter, you can return to the course as often as you wish.
