The January Seminar will be a joint event with the
Ordre des Chemistes du Quebec (OCQ)

For the sixth seminar in this series, we are happy to introduce
Michel Alsayegh, President of the Ordre des Chimistes du Québec (OCQ) to speak on 'Professional Chemists Need to Find Their Voice' on January 18, 2022.  Each seminar will be eligible for 1 PDC credit.
Congratulation to ACPA Member Paolo Bomben as a Nominee for the 2021 Rising Star Awards
As senior manager of Clean Technology Development at Alberta Innovates, Bomben leads the Bitumen Beyond Combustion (BBC) program, a transformational opportunity for Alberta and Canada. He has co-ordinated the Carbon Fibre Grand Challenge, overseen dozens of projects, and materially accelerated the BBC opportunity closer to reality.
'Natural' Does Not Necessarily Mean Safe
Nature is amazing. Put a seed into the ground and a plant emerges. Two cells unite, and a baby emerges. Two hydrogen nuclei in the sun fuse and energy emerges. Take a cutting from an apple tree, graft it to the trunk of a different type of apple tree and a new variety of apple emerges. Is that apple natural? It would not have been produced if the hand of man, or woman, had not intervened. But isn’t that hand also natural?
This new virtual Ethics course will retain much of the material and the interactive elements that our members value in the previous one day course. The course will provide an introduction to the ethical framework that guides professional chemists in the conduct of their duties. The course still focuses on solving practical issues that arise in professional practice.

Registration is now open until January 12, 2022.
